The Fire Department, with support from the Brazilian Air Force, managed to rescue a baby and her grandmother who had been isolated for three days due to the heavy rains that were ravaging Rio Grande do Sul. The rescue took place in the rural area of Santa Maria, one of the most affected regions of the State.
According to information, the mother of the baby, just one year old, was absent in the city and the child’s situation was worsening due to the lack of breast milk.
Approximately a thousand people have already been displaced from their homes in Santa Maria since the start of the meteorological events.

The latest bulletin released by the Civil Defense of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, updated at 9am this Sunday, 5th, confirmed 66 people dead, 155 injured and more than 100 missing across the state, due to the heavy rains that hit the region since last Tuesday, April 30th.

To do this, it is necessary to send the location’s zip code via SMS to the number 40199. Then, a confirmation is sent, making the number available to receive the information whenever it is released.
It is also possible to register via the Whatsapp application. To access the service, you must register by calling (61) 2034-4611 or clicking here. Then, you need to interact with the customer service robot by sending a simple “Hi”. After the first interaction, the user can share their current location or any other location of interest to them to receive messages that will be forwarded by the state Civil Defense.
