After 23 games and 121 goals scored over the course of a week, the 51st Brazilian Adult Futsal Cup of the 1st Division found its champion! And the trophy went to Esporte Clube Traipu (AL), which beat Sampaio Araiosense (MA) 2-1 this Saturday (4/5), in the northeastern final held at Ginásio Poliesportivo SESC LER, in Goiana, Pernambuco.
The final was broadcast live on CBFS TV (@oficialcbfs) on YouTube. And look, there was emotion until literally the last second. Sampaio equalized, but the referee signaled that time was already up. Alagoas party on the court!
THE GAME
The decision put the best attack, Sampaio, face to face against the least leaky defense, Traipu. The game started very balanced, but with Sampaio posing more danger in attack. However, it was Traipu that jumped ahead on the scoreboard. In the seventh minute, after a corner shot, Matheus took it first and scored a great goal: 1-0.
Sampaio tried to reach a draw, but goalkeeper Leo Borba showed why the Alagoans have the best defense in the championship. With his hand, with his foot… nothing got past him!
In the second half, Traipu made another successful move. After just five minutes, with a long ball, Pingo scored a beautiful goal: 2-0. But this time, the people of Maranhão managed to react. Pirulito beat goalkeeper Leo Borba in the eighth minute: 2×1. The player reached his seventh goal in the competition – isolated top scorer.
The drama continued until the last seconds, with Sampaio trying to reach a draw with the goalkeeper. And in the last ball of the game, with one second left, the Maranhão team created a move and, after a cross from the right side, the ball was deflected into the goal. But the arbitration claimed that time had already run out. So, Traipu champion!
The 51st Brazilian Adult Futsal Cup of the 1st Division was organized in partnership between the Brazilian Futsal Confederation (CBFS) and the Pernambuco Futsal Federation (FPFS), with support from the City of Goiana.
