A public hearing to discuss the Bahia pela Paz Program bill, prepared by the State Government, will be held by the Legislative Assembly, on Tuesday (7/5), starting at 9:30 am, in the committee rooms. Proposed by state deputy Robinson Almeida (PT), the debate will have the participation of the state secretaries of Justice, Human Rights and Social Development (SJDH) and Public Security (SSP), Felipe Freitas and Marcelo Werner, respectively.

The Bahia Pela Paz Program was delivered by Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) to the Legislative Assembly on March 13th. The project was discussed and prepared in an inter-institutional manner by the Governance Committee of the Social Defense System, formed by the heads of the three Powers (Executive, Legislative and Judiciary) and the institutions of the Justice System, such as the Public Ministry and the Public Defender’s Office. .

According to Robinson Almeida, public policy emerges as a counterpoint to the cycle and culture of violence. He also highlights the importance of exhausting all possibilities for debate and reflection on the program, before its approval in the plenary by deputies.

“Bahia pela Paz is an important instrument for developing public policies to combat violence and create an environment of peace in the State”, said the PT member, who in the Jaques Wagner government coordinated the Pacto pela Vida program.

“At this hearing, we will discuss more about the program, answer any questions from parliamentarians, listen to the secretaries and experts. The common objective is to have a universal policy to promote the culture of peace in our state, with integrated initiatives between bodies and governments, a state policy that focuses on valuing citizenship, human rights, and valuing the family. It is the union of efforts to overcome the culture of violence”, emphasized Robinson Almeida.
