“Mato Grosso is on the world’s radar”, says secretary about agribusiness

This week, the Government of Mato Grosso presented the potential of Mato Grosso agribusiness, investment opportunities and the benefits of operating in the State to managers of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of India (Nabard).

The Indian delegation, formed by the general manager of Nabard, Shri Monomoy, the deputy general manager, Shri Ramlingam Kashinathan, and the district development manager of Nabard, Turnal Tukaram Fulzele, was on a technical visit to Mato Grosso this Thursday and Friday (02 and 03.05).

The managers were received by vice-governor Otaviano Pivetta, by the Secretary of State for Economic Development (Sedec), César Miranda, and the deputy secretary of Agribusiness and Investments at Sedec, Anderson Lombardi. The interim president of the Federation of Industries of Mato Grosso (Fiemt), Sérgio Antunes, also participated in the meetings.

Secretary César Miranda assessed that the technical visit is the result of the mission carried out in India in November 2023, led by governor Mauro Mendes.

“We were in India looking to open new doors for investments and understand the dynamics of Indian business, and today they are trying to understand our dynamics. The activities carried out by the State Government, through Sedec, together with federations and the private sector, have placed Mato Grosso on the world’s radar”, stated the secretary.

On Friday (03), Sedec presented the operations of the União Avícola poultry processing and Marilac dairy factories, in the municipality of Nova Marilândia, to the Indian delegation.

On the occasion, the chief general manager of Nabard highlighted the importance of knowing the processing of frozen birds at União Agrícola.

“In India, the natural products market is predominant. Little by little the culture has been changing, including the consumption of frozen products such as poultry cuts, something that is still small. We need to be aware of the possibility of this market that will still grow in the country,” he said.

According to the manager, the Indian bank works to promote small producers and provides investment consultancy to its clients. In this way, the strengthening of ties and the exchange of knowledge between India and Mato Grosso go towards strengthening commercial relations, whether with economic development or agricultural technology.
