Madonna fan, the journalist from Rio Grande do Norte Marcelo Henrique Pereira Soares, 50 years old, is preparing to see the singer live this Saturday (4) for the seventh time in a show in Brazil. Since 1992, Marcelo is a guaranteed presence on all of the artist’s tours in the country – sometimes seeing more than one show.

This show will have a special flavor for Marcelo Soares from Rio Grande do Norte. He was invited by the event sponsor to follow the presentation in the VIP area, which is closer to the stage.

The reason for the invitation is that Marcelo and nine other fans manage a page about the singer, the “Literal Madonna”, on social media, which has more than 130 thousand followers on Instagram alone. The account is even followed by the singer’s manager.

They were all invited to the VIP area and will meet in person for the first time, as they live in different places in Brazil.

“This day [do convite], I confess, I cried a lot, I was so emotional. I never imagined this would happen. It was quite a surprise. And Saturday will be the realization of this joy”, said Marcelo.

Marcelo had already been planning to go to the show since rumors that the performance would take place at the end of last year. “I would come anyway. It’s funny that I never doubted that she would come. Even when everything was uncertain and there were only rumors, my heart said: ‘she’s coming!'”, he said.

This week, with tickets and accommodation already secured, he received the news that he would have a guaranteed place in the VIP area, an added excitement for the show.

“Every time I remember that we’re going to be in that space, which is closer to the stage, my heart races, I even get scared of getting sick,” he said.

“But it’s been good anxiety, you know? You’re excited all the time. That energy going through you,” he said.

The journalist from Rio de Janeiro arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday (1st) and managed to witness some remarkable moments where the show will take place, in Copacabana.

On Thursday, he accompanied the band and the singer at the sound check, which began as a surprise for the fans who were there.

“Suddenly a sound check started, but without Madonna appearing. We only heard her voice playing music. Entire songs, even”, he said.

At one point, the audience got to see one of Madonna’s daughters, Mercy James, who plays the piano in the song “Bad Girl”. But the peak came later.

“At night, Madonna suddenly took the stage and started singing ‘Nothing Really Matters’, which is the song that opens the show. It was that commotion, that shouting. At that time, Copacabana, in front of the Copacabana Palace, the construction site , the streets, were already full of fans”, said Marcelo.

“It was an indescribable thing. She was wearing the costume, including the performance of the song. And there were people crying, emotional, singing. It was very beautiful.”

The fan also said that he witnessed the song “Music” with the participation of percussionists from samba schools.

“It was the most fantastic thing I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s going to drive those people crazy. Copacabana is going to the ground,” he said.

Marcelo was enchanted by Madonna in 1989, in the video for Like a Prayer, which was part of the consolidation of the singer’s career.

“I thought that was great. I thought it was bold, very courageous. A woman standing up to the church like that. But it wasn’t just that. The clip also talks about racism, prejudice, there’s more than just the controversy it caused”, he recalled .

Thus, on the other three tours in which the singer visited Brazil, he went to: a show on “The Girlie Show World Tour”, in 1993; two shows on the “Sticky and Sweet Tour” in 2008; and three shows on “The MDNA World Tour” in 2012.

Twelve years later, the reunion will take place this Saturday on the Celebration Tour, which, for Marcelo, is more than the celebration of 40 years of Madonna’s musical career.

“Madonna She is an artist who always takes a stand on very controversial subjects., such as abortion and racism. She is always working in these areas, co-opting and defending minorities”, she recalled.

“She is an artist, for me, very different from most, who only makes albums, records and has her hits, but who doesn’t open her mouth for any cause. And that’s something that makes me very proud of her.”

The journalist said that from the moment he arrived in Rio de Janeiro he felt a “different energy” for the singer’s show, especially in Copacabana.

“There’s a different energy in the air. It’s a lot of joy, a lot of emotion. There are a lot of people, a lot of fans up front, everyone vibrating in the same vibe. It’s a very pleasant atmosphere,” he said.

The fan says that Madonna is his favorite international artist in his life, but that he admires other national singers such as Marisa Monte and Fernanda Abreu.

The journalist said that he never had any close contact with the singer and joked about the situation: “Unfortunately. It’s all her fault. I’m just here waiting for the invitation.”

Marcelo believes that the show will be historic and that the singer will promote a day to remember for all the fans present.

“I’m very proud to live at the same time as Madonna in this world,” he said.
