Public school students in Cruzeiro take music classes at Clube do Choro

The Integrated Secondary Education Center of Cruzeiro had, this Friday (3/5), a special music class at Clube do Choro. The meetings are part of the Music for All pilot project, created by the Brazilian Choro School. “From the beginning, we have had this concern with teaching music in schools, art generates access to social interaction and the formation of culturally aware citizens”, says Henrique Neto, teacher and coordinator of the Escola Brasileira de Choro.

Meetings will take place weekly both within the school and at the club headquarters. The director of CEMI Cruzeiro, Getúlio Cruz, says that he has high expectations for the classes: “The students are very excited to participate in this project, we are very grateful for the opportunity to host another social and cultural project within our school.”The course The goal is to expand to more public educational institutions and has a class schedule until the end of this year, in which students will have access to practical and theoretical activities”, he explains.

Student Stives Oliveira, 17 years old, points out the importance of accessibility to culture within schools: “This course is a good opportunity, because it gives the chance to anyone who wants to learn more about music for free.” Gabriella Chaves, the same age and also a student at CEMI, says she is very happy and grateful for the opportunity, “The classes are so good that we don’t even notice the time passing by. Every day I create more interest in music”, she concludes.
