Security forces come together in a program to raise awareness in society about the importance of reducing accidents

The Federal District Traffic Department (Detran-DF) and the Federal District Traffic Council (Contrandife) will begin Yellow May activities this Thursday (2). The event, which also has the support and participation of other public security forces in the Federal District, will be held in the parking lot of the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium, starting at 2:30 pm.

Around 150 students from public schools in Itapoã, Recanto das Emas and Estrutural were invited to participate in the initiative, which will feature the Detran-DF theater, educational lectures and presentations by Traffic MCs bringing safety guidelines and an alert to reduce of accidents.

Educators and inspection agents from Detran-DF will also carry out an action with vehicles approaching the site, delivering educational material and lectures that strengthen awareness about the Yellow May campaign. There will be an exhibition of vehicles from Detran-DF and the security forces that support the action.

The event is coordinated by the Federal District Traffic Council (Contrandife), organized by Detran-DF and supported by DER, Civil Police, Military Police, Fire Department, Federal Highway Police and Public Security Secretariat (SSP-DF). They all make up the DF Mais Seguro – Integral Security program.

Yellow May

Created in 2014 by the National Road Safety Observatory (ONSV), Yellow May is a multisectoral movement to draw society’s attention to the number of victims of traffic accidents around the world.

The objective is to promote, during the month of May, a coordinated road safety action between public authorities and civil society.

→ 1pm: arrival of vehicles from the invited bodies
→ 2:30 pm: arrival of buses with students
2:30pm/3:30pm: educational activities with children under the tents
3:30 pm/4:30 pm: vehicle approaches in the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium parking lot
4:30 pm/5:30 pm: arrival of authorities
6pm: positioning for photos with the lights of the National Stadium in Brasília
6:30 pm: Switching on the new stadium lighting
7pm: closing.
