Telephone lines were damaged because of the rain. Much of the communication is being done via radio. According to residents, news about other cities and family is limited.

The sisters’ family is a dairy producer in the city of Forqueta (RS) and owns a poultry farm. According to them, water took over much of the area. The animals were relocated, others escaped or died. The family has been without communication for more than 24 hours.
The last time we managed to contact my mother was yesterday afternoon. The Forqueta River was inside my parents’ house. Water was already coming out of the windows. The last thing we know is that our family is together with the animals in the aviary, Adriana Fucks told UOL.
