Soy in Chicago

You soybean futures contracts traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CBOT) closed Tuesday with lower prices. The combination of fundamental factors and the climate of risk aversion in the global financial market brought pressure to prices.

The advance of planting in the United States continues to be a bearish factor. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a report on the progress of planting soybean crops.

Until April 28, the planted area was estimated at 18%. In the same period last year, sowing was 16%. The average is 10%. The previous week, the percentage was 8 points.

The fall in oil and the appreciation of the dollar against other currencies completed the negative scenario. Tomorrow (1), the American central bank will define the future of its monetary policy and the climate of risk aversion has taken over the market.
