What is the Third Sector?

The Third Sector is a term used to describe the set of organizations and initiatives that aim to promote the social, environmental or cultural well-being of the community, without seeking financial profit as the main objective. It differs from the public and private sectors, being an intermediate sphere that encompasses non-governmental organizations (NGOs), philanthropic entities, associations, foundations, cooperatives, among other forms of organization.
