Three men were arrested after police officers found a plantation with ten thousand genetically modified marijuana plants, in the rural area of the city of Monte Santo, in northern Bahia.
According to the Military Police, the arrests and seizure were made on Friday (26). At the site, an irrigation structure, accommodation and machinery were dismantled. The criminal operation ranged from planting, harvesting, drying, to vacuum storage and distribution of the drug.
One of the arrested men confessed to being the manager and owner of the farm. Three cell phones, a fanny pack, two document wallets, two packages of vacuum-packed marijuana and eight empty packages were seized from the suspects.
The suspects, a sample of the plant and photos were taken to the Euclides da Cunha police station. All plantings were eradicated and incinerated on site.
