The Entrepreneurial Women’s Caravan took place last Wednesday (24), in the city of Barra do Corda, in the interior of Maranhão, at the Manoel Mariano de Sousa Educational Complex (Cultural Space).

The event, promoted by the Government of Maranhão in partnership with the local city hall, had as main objective to strengthen female empowerment and encourage entrepreneurship in the region.

Mayor Rigo Teles thanked the State Government and the partner entities that helped organize the event. “We are happy with the number of services offered on this first day of the Caravan, the communities responded to our call and sought assistance within their needs. An incredible action, for which we just have to be grateful,” he said.

“We are working here on the financial autonomy of our women with the help of many partners. It’s so good for us to see these women realizing their dreams and being achieved by public policies. This is what rewards all our work, highlights the Secretary of State for Women, Abigail Cunha.”

During the event, several free activities and services were offered to participants, including health, legal assistance, professional training and educational lectures. At Espaço Semu, women were able to access the Carreta da Mulher Maranhense, which offered medical exams such as mammography, preventive exams, as well as consultations with specialists such as a urologist, gynecologist, dermatologist, cardiologist and pediatrician. Francineide Silva went to Carreta da Mulher Maranhense and had a mammogram for the first time. “It is an exam that detects breast cancer early and should be done by us women without fear. We think it hurts, but it’s just an inconvenience that could cost our lives.”

Ônibus Delas provided legal assistance, offering specialized listening on gender issues and lectures on violence against women, legal advice, as well as directing local services when necessary.

40 complete kits of work materials were distributed to students in the hairdressing and manicure workshops, 20 kits for each workshop.

Other workshops were held, such as the production of pot cakes and desserts, and activities were expanded with health services such as X-ray and ultrasound at Carreta da Emserh.

At Espaço Senar, there were lectures on female entrepreneurship in the countryside and health services for rural women. At Espaço Senai, there were lectures on the female presence in the industry, in addition to creative sewing workshops. Sebrae also participated, offering lectures on female entrepreneurship and formalizing the MEI for individual microentrepreneurs, in addition to a course on strategies for starting businesses.

At Espaço Sedes, a workshop was given on the full use of food. Caravana also provided credit guidance through financial institutions such as Banco do Brasil and Banco do Nordeste, while Sesi’s itinerant services included clinical consultations, laboratory tests and healthy eating workshops. And at Espaço Sesc, dental care in various specialties was offered.

The success of the Entrepreneurial Women’s Caravan in Barra do Corda demonstrates the strength of the union between public and private institutions in favor of female well-being and entrepreneurship in the region. The diversity of services and activities offered during the event provided participants with access to valuable opportunities for their personal and professional growth.

In addition to taking care of women’s physical and mental health, the caravan encouraged the search for financial autonomy and professional training, fundamental pillars for female empowerment.

The presence of women from different areas and sectors reinforced the importance of gender equality in all social and economic spheres.

The event stood out as a milestone in the fight for equal opportunities and the strengthening of women from Maranhão. The continued commitment of everyone involved in moving forward with initiatives like this promises a more prosperous and inclusive future for women in the region, driving positive and lasting transformation of their lives.
