A World Surf League (WSL) will have Florence Brasil, brand of two-time world champion surfer, John John Florence, as the official clothing supplier for the VIVO Rio Pro presented by Corona, the eighth stage of the Championship Tour (CT), scheduled to take place between the 22nd and 30th of June, in Praia de Itaúna, in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro.

In Brazil, the partnership is unprecedented, although the brand has already sponsored another WSL event in Hawaii. The surfer line will be responsible for staff uniforms at the event.

“We are happy to form a partnership with a company that has one of its main concerns looking at issues related to sustainability. This is also one of the points treated as fundamental by the WSL. In addition to all the care in the places we visit, most of the pieces are produced responsibly, which brought us closer to the line and helped in negotiations to close the deal”, said Ivan Martinho, president of WSL in Latin America. “In addition, the brand also reflects an adventurous side that is directly related to surfing and the lifestyle of lovers of this sport”, he added.

The production of material for the CT will feature t-shirts with the event poster printed on the front, along with the other sponsors displayed on the back. The set will also include a polo shirt, a shirt with the brand’s signature camouflage, UV shirts specially produced for the body of security guards and shorts. Approximately 1,500 pieces should be produced for the event.

Founded in 2020 and introduced at the beginning of last year in the Brazilian market, the brand is known for its modern and utilitarian products, and is responsible for producing a variety of innovative products that cross between one sport and another, such as high-performance t-shirts and caps. , even iconic hooded lycras.

John Florence, 31, was born in North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii. Growing up just steps from the famous Pipeline, John developed a supernatural relationship with the ocean – a way of riding important waves and reading the ocean that only comes around once in a generation. During their 30 years, this relationship led him to redefine the sport of surfing, while winning almost every major title along the way – from the Pipe Masters to the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, including World Surf League championship after World Surf League championship and 5 wins. He is currently considered one of the biggest names in the WSL. Two-time world champion, in 2016 and 2017, he also had standout campaigns like in 2014, when he finished in third place. In the current season, he has 23,665 points and occupies third place in the rankings, behind the American Griffin Colapinto (25,865) and the Australian Jack Robinson (24,650).

In a recent interview, the Hawaiian surfer even said he was motivated to compete in the WSL and seek more titles, in addition to being physically recovered, leaving the two serious knee injuries he suffered, in 2019 and 2021, behind.
