The first doses of the dengue vaccine should arrive in Mato Grosso next week, according to the advisory statement sent by the Ministry of Health this Thursday, April 25th. The doses will be distributed to the 35 municipalities selected by the Ministry.Sorriso is on the list and should receive 8,177 doses. Initially, the target audience is made up ofteenagers aged 10 to 14.

In total, Mato Grosso should receive 131,479 doses of the dengue vaccine. The choice of municipalities by the Ministry of Health took into account the Arbovirus Monitoring Panel, so those with the highest rates will receive the doses.

Cuiabá and Várzea Grande received more than 65 thousand doses. Sinop, Sorriso and Lucas do Rio Verde are also on the list of cities that should receive the vaccines, adding up to 26 thousand doses made available for the region.

The superintendent of Health Surveillance at SES, Alessandra Moraes, reinforced that the public included in this first phase of vaccination is children between 10 and 14 years old.

“The Ministry of Health follows the guidelines of the National Immunization Program (PNI), through the recommendation made by the World Health Organization (WHO), which pointed out a worsening in the age group of young people between 10 and 14 years old in relation to the disease” , he clarified.

Defining the target audience and priority regions for immunization was necessary due to the limited capacity to supply doses by the vaccine manufacturing laboratory. The vaccination schedule will consist of two doses, with an interval of three months between them.

“Our team constantly advises and asks residents to eliminate areas of trash, clean or dirty stagnant water and we reinforce that everyone is responsible for their home and their company; we need to act together”, he highlights. Today, 47 endemic disease control agents work directly in the field. “But everyone needs to do their part”, he adds.
