Red, White and Blue Blood 2 is announced by Prime Video

Prime Video announced on social media that a sequel to Red, White and Blue Blood is in development.

Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez return for the sequel, Deadline reports.

Matthew López returns to write the script, this time, alongside the book’s author, Casey McQuiston. Greg Berlanti Schechter Films and Sarah Schechter will return to produce the film, joined by the production company’s Michael McGrath, as well as López.

The film is one of the biggest recent streaming successes, having entered the top 3 of the most watched romantic comedies of all time on Prime Video.

According to Amazon, Red, White and Blue Blood was responsible for an increase in Prime Video member signups. The company didn’t say how it determined this, but the film was likely the first title a new account watched after subscribing to streaming.

The film is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Casey McQuiston, which was a huge success on social media.

The plot revolves around Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), son of the first female president of the United States (Uma Thurman), and British Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine). At first, the young people harbor a rivalry with each other due to an incident at a royal wedding, but they have to pretend to be friends. However, when the English prince reveals that he is gay, the young American discovers he is bisexual, and the two begin to develop a forbidden relationship.

Ellie Bamber, Sarah Shahi, Clifton Collins Jr. and Stephen Fry complete the main cast.

The direction was in charge of Matthew López (The Newsroom), a playwright who won a Tony, the Oscar of theater.

Red, White and Blue Blood is available on Prime Video.
