Vaccination against the dengue virus has remained suspended in Natal since April 23rd. The last doses of the vaccine were used after the temporary expansion of the target audience’s age range, on April 23. Sesap informs that new batches are expected to be received next Tuesday (14).

Despite the suspension, the vaccine has been sought after in health units, especially by adults. Scheduled to return in May, vaccination will target the age group of 10 to 14 years old, the same target audience as before the expansion. The temporary expansion of the age group was made following a recommendation from the Ministry of Health, so as not to waste the batch close to its expiration date, on April 30th. At the time, the vaccine was made available to people aged 4 to 59. With the new doses, the range will be resumed.

In Mossoró, vaccination was resumed after receiving a new batch last Tuesday (07). Just like Natal, the municipality closed the batch valid for April 30th before its expiration date.

The Public Health Secretariat (Sesap) informed that the receipt of new batches of vaccine is scheduled for next Tuesday (14). Planned for more than 17 thousand doses, the 5,430 new batches are already directed to the 19 municipalities that are part of the vaccination schedule in the state. Of these, 2,510 lots are for Natal, 930 for Mossoró and 720 for Parnamirim.

In Natal, the application of the Qdenga immunizer began on February 19th, and continued until April 23rd. Until the target audience was expanded on April 18, around 14 thousand doses of the vaccine were administered in the capital.
