The Minha Casa Minha Vida Program (MCMV) gains a new stage in Rio Grande do Norte, with the construction of 3,872 houses in urban and rural entities, covering 16 urban and 49 rural projects, in 62 municipalities in all regions.

In a ceremony in the auditorium of the School of Government, in Natal, the State Government brought together this Friday (26) beneficiaries, state, municipal and federal authorities from the bodies involved with the program; more than 30 mayors, municipal secretaries, representatives from Caixa Econômica Federal, the ministries of Labor, Health, Conab, Fiern, Sinduscon, Fetarn, Fetraf, STTR-RN, to present the first stage of this new phase of the MCMV.

Initially there would be 933 housing units, but, after coordination between the state government and the federal government, the number was almost quadrupled and the units will benefit more than 15.5 thousand people in RN.

The program aims to offer decent housing for the urban population and also for family farmers, indigenous peoples, members of remaining rural quilombo communities and other traditional peoples and communities.

“MCMV is the realization of dreams, fulfillment of rights by Governments and public managers who have sensitivity, commitment to social issues, to the fulfillment of rights and citizenship. These houses also represent investments in the civil construction sector, which will boost the economy, promote development, social well-being, citizenship, employment and income for the people of RN and Brazil”, declared Fátima Bezerra.

Vice-governor Walter Alves said that for the resumption of the MCMV, the state government and federal government will work together, joining efforts to serve those who need it most. The result is that RN will have at this stage more than 3,800 homes destined for those who need it most.

The president of the RN Housing Company – Cehab/RN, Pablo Thiago considered that the resumption of the MCMV meets the demands of the population, the municipalities, and now benefits several segments in urban and rural areas. “And we’re not going to stop, we’re going to expand to serve more municipalities and people,” he said.

President of the Federation of Municipalities of RN (Femurn) and mayor of Lagoa Nova, Luciano Santos pointed out: “Only people who have lived in this condition know what it is like to live in a shack. Today we take a big step and I congratulate the State Governor and the Federal Government for the initiative”.
