Civil Defense of Amazonas presents forecasts at agribusiness meeting

On the afternoon of this Thursday, April 25, the executive secretary of Civil Defense of Amazonas, Colonel Máximo, presented the prognosis about the drought expected for 2024 during an important meeting held at the headquarters of the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of Amazonas ( FAEA). The meeting took place at the Support Committee for Agribusiness Development in Amazonas (CADAAM) and brought together several representatives and bodies from the State’s primary sector.

The meeting brought together experts and those interested in mitigating the effects of drought, especially considering its direct impact on agricultural and livestock activities in the region. Colonel Máximo brought to the table data based on analyzes from the main reference institutions, such as CENSIPAM, INPA, IRI, SGB-CPRM, UEA and UFAM, providing a clear and objective overview of the challenges that are possibly approaching.

During the presentation, preventive measures and response strategies to be adopted were discussed, aiming to minimize losses and protect the population and natural resources of the region. The active participation of representatives from the primary sector was essential, providing direct dialogue between authorities and key stakeholders.

“Drought is a phenomenon that is increasingly recurring in our region, and it is extremely important that we are prepared to face it in the best way possible. The collaboration and engagement of everyone involved is essential to guarantee the safety and well-being of our community and the sustainable development of agribusiness.”, highlighted the secretary.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of the various bodies, entities and cooperatives present committed to working together to face the challenges that the 2024 drought may bring. Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of investing in preventive measures and technologies that can help in the adaptation and resilience of communities in the face of extreme weather events.
