O Teacher Training Program in Digital Skills has been driving the development of educators in the digital environment. Implemented in state education network in Mato Grosso between 2022 and 2023, it aimed to combine digital skills with the learning process in public schools.

The responsible institutions, Vivo Telefônica FoundationInstituto Natura and State Department of Education (Seduc-MT), launched last Thursday, 25th, a document systematizing the work carried out.

Between 2022 and 2023, there was a increase in the percentage of evaluated educators at levels of technological appropriation considered adequate for the Innovation Center for Brazilian Education (CIEB) – that is, with scores greater than or equal to 3, on a scale of 1 to 5.

It is proportion grew from 25.4% to 52.6%representing a significant increase of 27.2 percentage points in the period.

The diagnosis

The starting point was a diagnosis of the digital skills of teachers and school managers. To do this, they used a self-assessment resource developed by the Innovation Center for Brazilian Education (CIEB): the Edutec Guide.

The tool, online and free, is based on a self-assessment questionnaire answered by educators that seeks to identify the level of technological appropriation of these professionals.

Based on the mapping, the network was able to direct teachers and managers to the most appropriate training paths. Thus, at the end of 2022, a mobilization was carried out to publicize the resource, encouraging educators to respond to the Guide.

With the answers, the experience was structured into training tracks, made up of courses offered in a hybrid format in the areas of pedagogical, digital citizenship and professional development.

Other results

Throughout the year, 66 hours of training were made available, personalized in a personalized way for each teacher, taking into account their initial level of digital skills and included around 20 thousand subscribers.

As a result of applying the methodology, it was estimated that a teacher who participated in 10 to 25 hours of training on the trails throughout 2023 presents, on average, an annual increase of 1.16 points more in its level of appropriation – considering 5 as the maximum level of appropriation –, compared to a colleague with similar socioeconomic characteristics, but who participates in less 10 hours of training in the same period, informs Fundação Telefônica Vivo.

As part of the long-term commitment of the State Department of Education (Seduc-MT), the expectation is that the results will reverberate in the state’s education in the coming years, mainly through continuous monitoring and actions that maintain the engagement of the educators involved.
