Minas Travel Market in Minascentro

Minascentro hosts the first edition of Minas Travel Market, tourism event that replaces the old Minas Gerais Tourism Hall, run by the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies (ABAV). Inspired and designed by the same creators of Brazil Travel Market (BTM) – one of the largest tourism fairs in Latin America –, the meeting should bring together around 2 thousand tourism professionals over two days of the agenda and BH Dicas will cover it!!!

The arrival of Le Cordon Bleu was announced at the opening of MTM – Minas Travel Market. Minas Gerais will be home to a new and renowned school of French gastronomy, the Le Cordon Bleuand reinforces Minas as one of the main tourist and investment destinations in Brazil, in addition to highlighting the cultural and tourist powers of Cozinha Mineira.

The University Center UniBH, in partnership with the Le Cordon Bleu, will offer a gastronomy course with practical and face-to-face activities on the Buritis campus, under the guidance of chefs and teachers certified by Le Cordon Bleu. The course, which should be open by 2025, will combine French techniques with the diversity and richness of Brazilian ingredients, especially those from Minas Gerais.

Protagonism of Minas Gerais Cuisine

As always happens at national and international tourism fairs, the Minas Gerais cuisine will also be a protagonist in MTM and the flavors, aromas and knowledge of the state’s cuisine will set the tone for the project “Living Kitchen”. On Friday, the chef Bernadette, from the North of Minas, prepares a caldoso rice with sun-dried meat in bottled butter, pequi and crispy baru farofa. Another attraction of the day, the chef Highlander presents a pine nut risotto with flattened trout produced in Serra da Mantiqueira. On Saturday, it will be time for Jequitinhonha’s Kitchenas Chef Michel Abras and your plateComfort from Grandma Zarinha” (country sausage in rapadura and lemongrass sauce with moreno cream cheese, green andu farofinha and backyard rice).

Also this Friday, in partnership with the State Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Minas Gerais (IEPHA-MG), the “Heritage to Collect” project was presented. These are postcards with a brief summary of the Iepha Heritage Notebooks and a QR code that directs you to download the contents for free.

The musicians Rodrigo Borges and Ian Guedeswho carry the legacy of Clube da Esquina in their surnames, end the day at the Government of Minas stand with a show whose repertoire finds Minas Gerais in notes and chords.

Minas will have a new tourist route

The Minas Travel Market continues this Saturday (27th) and with more news: a new tourist itinerary. AIRote of the Arts, which will cover eight municipalities: Belo Horizonte, São Joaquim de Bicas, Igarapé, Brumadinho, Congonhas, Ouro Branco, Ouro Preto and Mariana. Also on the second day of MTM, the chef Sinval Espírito Santo will lead the training action “Minas Gerais cuisine and experience tourism: from stories to cases”.

Hotel occupancy, for example, reached 65.65% of the monthly average last year, with an average revenue per room (REVpar) of R＄219.00 – better numbers than in the pre-pandemic period, according to ABIH-MG (Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry of Minas Gerais). Still in 2023, R＄147.98 million was recorded collected only in service taxes (ISS) related to partially and typically tourist activities.
