The company says it had to take some machinery from São Paulo to make the adaptation of its factory possible. “As a Brazilian company, we are and will always be at the side of Brazilians in all situations”, stated Jean Jereissati, president of the company. Ambev says it has already donated more than 560 thousand liters of water to the state – 185 thousand liters for the population of 11 affected municipalities and 375 thousand in water trucks to meet the water needs of hospitals in greater Porto Alegre.
The lack of drinking water in Porto Alegre, due to the floods that hit the state, brought crowds to the markets. Of the six water treatment plants of the Municipal Department of Water and Sewage in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, four have their operations suspended.
Rains leave at least 95 dead in RS
Municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul have been hit for more than a week by the impacts of storms in the region. In addition to 95 deaths, the state has 131 missing and 372 injured, according to the governor of RS, Eduardo Leite, in a press conference this Tuesday afternoon (7).
78% of municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul were affected by rain. In total, 388 municipalities and 1.3 million people were affected by the storms. There are 155,741 homeless people and 48,147 people in shelters.
