Bahia represents Brazil at the 37th Gourmets 2024 Salon, which runs until this Thursday (25/04), in Madrid, in the capital of Spain. The event, which brings together 85 exhibiting countries to present news in the beverage and food trade, features the diverse and differentiated flavors of family farming in Bahia.

There are special coffees from Piatã, cashew nuts from Ribeira do Pombal, chocolates from the South of Bahia, dehydrated fruits from Chapa Diamantina, hearts of palm from Baixo Sul, products derived from umbu from the Sertão do São Francisco and many other delicacies that have enchanted the public at international event.

The president of the Cooperative for Family Agriculture and Solidarity Economy of the Salgado River Basin and Surrounding Areas (Coopfesba), of the Natucoa brand, Carine Assunção, valued this new moment in family farming. “The State Government supported the Union of Family Farming and Solidarity Economy Cooperatives of the State of Bahia (Unicafes-Ba) by bringing the first container with family farming products to Europe and, today, we are here witnessing our work and our products go so far, being appreciated not only in the national market, but also internationally”, pointed out Carine.

The export director of Unicafes-BA and commercial director of the Cooperative of Specialty Coffees and Agriculture of Piatã (Coopiatã), Rodolfo Moreno, highlighted the exchange of information in Madrid. “It’s been fantastic here because we can see new consumption patterns, new packaging and even new ways of organizing events. For us, it is important to participate, as it adds value to our collective experience of thinking about new marketing adjustments, in products and events”, highlighted Rodolfo.

The manager of the Bahia Superintendence of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Bahiater), Lanns Almeida, was also present at the event. “It is extremely important to present the products of our women and family farmers here in Europe. We are promoting our products, the diversity and quality of food, from Bahia to the world”.

Bahia’s participation in the event is the result of investments by the State Government, through CAR, a public company linked to the Secretariat of Rural Development (SDR), in partnership with Unicafes and the State Secretariats of Tourism (Setur) and Economic Development (SDE ).
