There will be 30 criminal police officers who will be part of the group that will work in the prison units of Charqueadas and Montenegro, in Greater Porto Alegre. In Charqueadas is RS’s maximum security penitentiary.
In the Rio Grande do Sul units, according to the Santa Catarina secretary, the agents will help maintain daily procedures, as well as order and discipline.

In Charqueadas is one of the main problems of the gaucho prison system due to the rain. In addition to the location having highly dangerous inmates, there is flooding in the unit and inmates have already had to be transferred. Some prisoners were also ordered to serve their sentences with an electronic ankle bracelet for 20 days under house arrest.

In addition to criminal police officers, SC has also sent firefighters and military police officers to assist with rescue and security work in RS.
