Suspected man escapes after being arrested for child sexual abuse in southwest BA

A man is wanted by the Civil Police on suspicion of raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter since she was 8 years old, in the municipality of Itapetinga, in the southwest of the state. He is considered a fugitive.

According to information gathered by the TV Sudoeste team, an affiliate of Rede Bahia in the region, with the victim’s aunt, she learned that the suspect had spoken in a bar about the sexual abuse against his stepdaughter.

The woman then asked the teenager if this had happened and the girl confessed that she had been raped by him five years ago. According to the victim, the man is a drug user and attacks her mother regularly. He also said that rapes have become more frequent during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to TV Sudoeste, the suspect worked at night and committed sexual abuse during the day, after her mother left for work.

The victim also reported that the man gave her money and medicine. The teenager’s father, who preferred not to be identified, said that the family suspected something was happening, but the girl did not report anything out of fear.

“We were asking and she couldn’t open up to me or her mother. […] She didn’t say anything out of fear, because he also hit her mother,” said the teenager’s father.

After the complaint, examinations carried out by a coroner found that the girl had violent sexual intercourse.

On Saturday (20), the family filed a police report and the Civil Police requested the suspect’s preventive arrest, but it was only issued on Sunday (21), by the Court.

According to TV Sudoeste, the man sold goods and fled the city. He is considered a fugitive by the Civil Police.

Kidnapping and sexual abuse of a 9-year-old child

A 56-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (20), suspected of kidnapping and sexually abusing a nine-year-old child in Luís Eduardo Magalhães, in the west of the state. The suspect would have taken the boy to a market to buy sweets and lure him to his house.

According to information obtained by TV Oeste, an affiliate of Rede Bahia in the region, the parents noticed the absence of the child and called the Municipal Civil Guard. The boy would have hidden when he was approached by the suspect.

The agents went to the location and received videos from a merchant that showed the suspect buying sweets with the child. With the man’s identification, the municipal guards discovered that he was carrying out work for a neighbor of the victim’s family and went to his address.

The agents found the man in his underwear and the child on a bed. The boy then allegedly told the guards that he was raped. He was taken to an Emergency Care Unit (UPA), where the sexual abuse was confirmed by a doctor. The boy was treated and was admitted to the unit under observation. There are no details about his health status.

Military police were also called and the suspect was taken to the city police station. Delegate Francisco de Sá, responsible for investigating the case, said that the man started crying during the interrogation and refused to give information. His name was not released and remains in custody, pending judicial custody.
