This Wednesday, the 25th, Bahia recorded almost 160 thousand probable cases of dengue, according to data from the Arbovirus Monitoring Panel, from the Ministry of Health. The information counts cases from the first four months of 2024.

Also according to the panel, the state of Bahia recorded 55 deaths from the disease, in addition to 111 that are under investigation. The incidence coefficient is 1125.8, and the lethality rate in probable cases was 0.03 and in severe cases 3.23.

The highest incidence of probable cases is concentrated in females (56.6%), while in men it is 43.4%. Brown people are among the most affected, with 76.3%, white people (12.7%) and black people (9.4%). The majority of probable cases are concentrated in people aged 20 to 29, with 18,194 among men and 13,432 among women.

Nationally, Brazil registered 3,852,901 probable cases, with 1,792 deaths from dengue and a further 2,216 still under investigation. The number represents more than double the number of probable cases of the disease identified throughout last year: 1,649,144.

The incidence rate of the disease in the country, at the moment, is 1,897.4 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. The lethality in probable cases is 0.05 and the lethality in cases of severe dengue is 4.43.
