Strategic dialogue between Congo and Ceará authorities aims to boost investments and economic partnerships

This Wednesday (24), in a strategic meeting, the Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, St. Albert Mbuyi, accompanied by the French investor of the Ecrin group, Robert Alzon, and the lawyer and honorary consul of Denmark in Ceará and Rio Grande in the North, Leonardo Lundgaard Jensen, met with the Secretary of Economic Development of Ceará (SDE), Salmito Filho, to explore opportunities for collaboration and attract investment to the region.

During the meeting, held at the SDE headquarters, Secretary Salmito Filho highlighted several key points about the state’s competitive advantages, including the quality of public education, solar and wind potential, fiscal and tax incentives and public attraction policy industrial system that has been implemented for three decades. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of intelligent management of water resources, a crucial topic for the sustainable economic development of the region.

Salmito presented SDE’s strategic planning, highlighting the three main lines of action. One of them is the maintenance of the traditional economy; the other, the development of the new economy with a focus on renewable energy and initiatives such as H2V; the third being focused on social mobility, with initiatives to reduce poverty and promote economic inclusion.

For Secretary Salmito, Congo, a country with 153 million inhabitants, depends mainly on imports, and Ceará can be a great business environment. “The products present and produced here, as well as the purchasing possibilities for Congo, mainly in the primary sector. For example, sheep meat, goat meat, frozen chicken meat, shrimp, tuna, fruit, vegetables, which we could potentially sell and export to Congo, a country with 153.3 million inhabitants and which depends mainly on imports.” , highlights the secretary.

The Congolese Provincial Minister’s interest in bringing investment to the region was emphasized during the meeting, highlighting the importance of international partnerships to boost economic and social development. St. Albert Mbuyi identified several areas of cooperation at the meeting. “The meeting was extremely detailed, addressing various opportunities for cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Brazil, more specifically the state of Ceará. Thanks to this presentation, we identified several areas of synergy where we can collaborate to promote the development of both Ceará and the Democratic Republic of Congo.”

The meeting between the Provincial Minister of Congo and SDE represents an important step in the search for international partnerships and in strengthening the business environment in the state.
