This Tuesday (23/4), the Federal Police (PF) served an arrest warrant against a 34-year-old man being investigated for crimes related to drug trafficking and money laundering. Target of Operation King of Skunk, the criminal had been on the run since last December and was found in Riacho Fundo (DF).

The arrest warrant came from the 10th Federal Court of the Judiciary Section of the Federal District. When approached by the PF, the person being investigated presented an identity card with signs of forgery.

Thus, in addition to being indicted for association with trafficking, drug trafficking with transnational repercussions and money laundering, the criminal was charged with using a false document, a crime whose penalty can reach six years in prison.

Operation Skunk King

Launched last December, in Brasília, Operation King of Skunk took place to dismantle a criminal association that operated in international drug trafficking. The task force had support from the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF).

At the time, the teams complied with 43 court orders – all issued by the Federal Court in DF –, of which nine were temporary arrest warrants; 14, search and seizure; three, precautionary measures other than prison.

Seventeen individuals and legal entities were the targets of asset constriction measures, which led to the blocking of R$12 million obtained through the crimes investigated.

During compliance with the court orders, the police seized several luxury vehicles, in addition to approximately R$100,000 in cash, as well as seven firearms, more than a thousand rounds of ammunition, 28 sealed cell phones, without proof of invoice, and several ampoules of anabolic steroids.

Clandestine transport

Investigations revealed that the companies were based in DF and operated in interstate transportation of changes. The firms were used to operate the movement of large quantities of drugs and weapons across the country. The illicit products were stored in warehouses linked to those being investigated and, later, they supplied criminal groups operating in the country’s capital, the surrounding area and in other units of the Federation.

In April 2023, the Civil Police of Amazonas (PCAM) seized around 700kg of cocaine transported by those under investigation to the Federal District. Two months later, authorities seized around 350kg of the drug, in addition to a ton of skunk – more concentrated marijuana – and five rifles.

The investigations found that the two loads seized belonged to the criminal group targeted by the legal measures.
