Adjustment of intercity tickets will be discussed at ALEPI

Today (24), starting at 9:30 am, the Inspection and Control, Finance and Taxation Commission (CFCFT) of the Legislative Assembly of Piauí (Alepi) will hold a public hearing to debate the increase in intercity bus fares in the metropolitan region of Teresina. The debate was requested by deputies Warton Lacerda and Francisco Limma, from PT and Evaldo Gomes (Solidariedade). The presided committee is chaired by deputy Dr. Felipe Sampaio (MDB). The situation of Greater Teresina is the focus of the debate.

According to deputies, bus companies that operate between Teresina and cities such as Altos, Demerval Lobão, Campo Maior, União and José de Freitas have increased fares by approximately 25%. Elevation, considered abusive by parliamentarians and which affects workers and students.
Representatives of the State Government were invited, the Transport Secretariat and Agrespi (Public Services Regulatory Agency), responsible for regulating intercity road transport, in addition to the State Attorney General’s Office. From organized civil society, Alepi invited representatives of bus companies and alternative transport, for commerce, education and rural workers and high school and higher education students. The State Court of Auditors, the Court of Justice and the OAB-PI also received invitations to participate in the public hearing. Deputy Limma argues that the debate should also cover the transport situation in cities up to 100km away from Teresina. “We need to analyze and publicly debate with parliamentarians, businesspeople, representative entities, and mainly, with users in the sector, all the current conditions and circumstances of offering this service. The Assembly is attentive to the needs of the population and will continue to closely monitor the development of this process, seeking better resolution for the population”, he explains.
