Representative Paulo Duarte announced this Tuesday (23), during an ordinary session in the Legislative Assembly, that he will forward a lawsuit to the Public Ministry of Mato Grosso do Sul (MPMS) against an intercity transport company. The process will deal with the charging of the so-called “service fee” to those consumers who purchase land transport tickets via the internet. According to the deputy, “If you are purchasing online, there is no cost to the companies and even so a fee is charged which, in our point of view, has no legal basis”.

A month ago, on March 18, the parliamentarian sent, via the Legislative Assembly, a request asking the company for answers about the type of service being charged at this rate, how this charge is calculated and, mainly, what the law that provides for the imposition of such value. However, thirty days after sending the request there was no response from the company. “Sending a request to the company is the same thing as sending a souvenir to someone we don’t know, that is, it doesn’t turn into anything”, complains the deputy, stating that he will file the action with the MPMS instead of reiterating the request.
