Front will cause heavy rain in flood areas of Greater Porto Alegre

A warm front that advances from North to South brings rain to the areas that are currently most affected by floods, such as Greater Porto Alegre. We warn of the high risk of heavy rain with torrential showers, which may include lightning and thunderstorms, with isolated storms not being ruled out.

The strongest instability occurs this Saturday night in the north of the state, especially in the Serra Gaúcha region, where it is raining heavily in several places. The weather is already showing rain in the metropolitan area.

Between dawn and morning, the strongest instability migrates to the South with a high risk of heavy to locally intense rain with lightning and thunderstorms in points between the Center and East of the state, especially between the valleys, Greater Porto Alegre and the Coast North.

Throughout Sunday, the rain moves further south. As a result, the weather will open in many cities with sun and clouds. The temperature is higher in the Northern Half of the state with a feeling of hot and muggy weather. In the south of Rio Grande do Sul, a chance of rain later in the afternoon until the evening.

It is worth clarifying that the rain forecast for the next few hours will not interfere with the low rivers, where levels are already declining. The best that can happen is to temporarily reduce the rate of decline in some locations, but, in general, the trend is downward for most rivers.

The hot air mass that advances behind the front is the one that covers Brazil at the moment with exceptionally high temperatures in the state of Paraná, Central-West and Southeast of Brazil.

Maximum temperatures exceed 30ºC in several cities. In the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul, there is a high risk of heavy rain and storms.
