The salary of professionals who work in the oil and gas industry is almost double that of other workers in Espírito Santo. The average salary in the sector is R$6,307 in the State, while the national average is R$6,820.40. The average amount paid in other sectors in Espírito Santo is R$3,533 and, in the country, R$3,861.10.

The information is contained in the Yearbook of the Oil and Natural Gas Industry in Espírito Santo, released on Monday (22) by the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo (Findes) and the Industry Observatory. The publication brings together data and analyzes of the sector, in addition to presenting a projection of production until 2028.

According to the publication, the fuel production chain generates 11,285 direct jobs in the State, representing 2.5% of national workers in the segment and 1.1% of all stations in Espírito Santo. The majority of these employees in the segment, 6,982, have completed secondary education. With a higher education degree, there are 1,747 professionals.

Furthermore, the estimate is that, between 2024 and 2028, oil production will register an average annual increase of 5.1%, reaching, in the last year of the projection, a volume of 218.4 thousand barrels per day. In relation to natural gas, the estimate is for an increase of 5.2% in average annual production, reaching 5.5 million m³ per day of input.

Espírito Santo ranks third among oil-producing states, with 169.7 thousand barrels per day, and fifth place in natural gas, with 4.2 million cubic meters per day.

Qualified labor

The investments that will reach the State will require qualified workers for various functions for the development of new projects. Among the occupations in demand are positions such as mechanics, electronics and occupational safety technicians; petroleum, production, operation and naval engineers; maritime cuisine; as well as healthcare professionals and sailors.

Another fact that draws attention in the Yearbook prepared by Findes is the age range of these workers: 3,865 are between 30 and 39 years old, and 2,826 are between 40 and 49 years old. Among the busiest professions are welders, administrative assistants, machine maintenance mechanics and truck drivers.
