The Marechal Dutra dam, known as Gargalheiras, reached 97.33% of its total capacity, early this Wednesday morning (3). With the latest update from the RN Water Management Institute (Igarn), there were 12 centimeters left to bleed.

The reservoir located in the city of Acari, in the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte, accumulates 43,239,426 m³ in percentage terms, 97.33% of its total capacity, which is 44,421,480.38 m³.

The last bloodletting of Gargalheiras took place in 2011, so the population’s expectations are high. The number of visits to the reservoir has increased in recent days. In the early hours of this Tuesday, dozens of people got up early in the area in anticipation of the reservoir being bled. With the imminent overflow of the spring, Acari City Hall announced the “Festa do Gargalheiras” for next Sunday (7), with the participation of Bruno Martins, Giannini Alencar and Giulian Monte.

This Monday (1st), the reservoir level reached 80.37% with 1.14m left to bleed. At 5 am this Tuesday, it was announced by the meters that Gargalheiras, when receiving water from the rivers, increased by 25 centimeters in 9 hours.
