The Bahia Book Biennial returns from April 26th to May 1st, at the Salvador Convention Center, in Boca do Rio, bringing together 170 guests from the publishing market. The event, co-hosted by City Hall, will have as its theme this edition “The Stories that Bahia Tells”.

Personalities and artists will be present on the occasion, producing more than 100 hours of content for all audiences, in three different spaces of the official cultural program: Café Literário, Arena Jovem and Espaço Infantil. In the previous edition, held in 2022, the event reached the mark of 90 thousand visitors, 20 thousand people in a single day.

Among the guests are international authors, such as Iranian-American Abdi Nazemian, author of the books “Like a Love Story” and “Chandler’s Legacy”, and Scholastique Mukasonga, survivor of the Rwandan massacres that occurred in the 1990s and author of “Our Lady of the Nile” and “The Barefoot Woman”. Some of the main exponents of contemporary Brazilian literature are also part of the program, including Itamar Vieira Jr., Pedro Rhuas, Paula Pimenta, Socorro Acioli and Thalita Rebouças; as well as celebrities such as Daniela Mercury, Bruna Lombardi and Zélia Duncan.

Tickets for the event can now be purchased on the event’s official website (https://bienaldolivrobahia.com.br/). Entrance costs R$30 (full) and R$15 (half). During the days of the Biennale there will also be a physical ticket office in the event space itself.

Director Tatiana Zaccaro, from GL Events Exhibitions, the company that manages the Convention Center, states that the Bahia Book Biennial is established as a space to celebrate representation. “This makes the Bienal Bahia an event of great importance for promoting the culture of a state that is so important for Brazil, as well as an opportunity to bring readers closer to the universe of books. It will present us with a very diverse, rich, plural and purposeful program of new ideas, just like Bahia itself. It’s an event with its own identity and personality, which is growing more and more”, she detailed.

More than 200 exhibiting brands have already been confirmed, including the four main publishers in the country: Companhia das Letras, HarperCollins Brasil, Rocco and Globo Livros, which will bring their main titles, releases and actions specially designed for the Bahian public to the stands.
