Between March 29th and 31st, Vilhena hosted the 5th edition of the Weslen Kameya Handball Cup. The competition brought together teams from several cities in Rondônia and also teams from Amazonas and Mato Grosso.

According to the organization of the event, 24 teams competed in the 2024 edition, 16 teams in the men’s category and 8 in the women’s category. In addition to the Vilhena teams, the Weslen Kameya Handball Cup received representatives from Porto Velho, Ariquemes, Jaru, Cacoal, Pimenta Bueno and Cerejeiras, as well as Humaitá-AM and Lacerda-MT.

The clashes began on Friday (29), with games taking place at the Geraldão and Jorge Teixeira de Oliveira gyms, the venue for the finals.

With a high technical level presented by the teams throughout the competition, the two finals were highly contested and decided in detail, which can be understood in the tight scores of the two decisions.

The women’s tournament title went to the AMEC team. Cacoal’s representatives beat ADPVH, from Porto Velho, by a score of 26-24.

For men, the score was even tighter: 25-24 and the title went to FUNCET, from Ariquemes, who beat ADPVH, from Porto Velho.
