The value of the electricity bill will fall for more than 1.1 million consumer units in 74 municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul. The board of directors of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) approved, this Tuesday morning (2), an average reduction of -1.61% in Energisa MS’s electricity tariff.

According to the deliberation, the readjustment for high voltage will be -3.65%while for low voltage – which encompasses residential, commercial and rural classes – the adjustment will be -0.84%. The annual tariff adjustment comes into force on April 8, 2024.

The president of the Consumer Council of the Energisa MS Concession Area (Concen/MS), Rosimeire Costa, highlighted the General Price Index – Market (IGP-M) as the main factor that contributed to the reduction in electricity tariffs.

“Today we will have an adjustment to reduce. That hasn’t happened for a long time. It’s historic!”

The rapporteur’s vote also highlighted two financial items that most impacted the negative value of the adjustment:

  1. neutrality of sectoral charges, with an effect of -1.26%, given the 7.52% growth in the billed market observed in the reference period;
  2. reversal of PIS and Cofins credits, with an effect of -2.36%, considering the remaining value of R$ 104.6 million, out of a total of R$ 433.2 million (including taxes on operations) used by the concessionaire between July/2022 and February/2024.
