Despite suspicions of monopoly raised by the Public Ministry of Acre and a court decision that obliges the State Regulatory Agency for Public Services of the State of Acre (Ageac) to register new intercity public transport companies, the body has not yet granted accreditation to operate in the Rio Branco/Assis Brasil and Rio Branco/Cruzeiro do Sul stretches.

The public civil action that resulted in the court decision arose after the request for emergency protection made by the MP, with the aim of breaking the route monopoly held by the company Transacreana Ltda.

Transacreana has been the target of recurring complaints from passengers, including reports of several incidents. In the last of them, last week, a company bus started on the BR-364 in the stretch between the municipalities of Tarauacá and Feijó after one of the tires burst. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Recently, the president of the Public Services Regulatory Agency of the State of Acre (Ageac), Luís Almir Brandão, was at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Acre (Aleac) last week and was accused by deputy Pedro Longo (PDT), who is based from the government, in relation to allegations of monopoly in intercity transport in Acre; at the time, Longo stated that the manager would be behaving like a company lawyer.

Meanwhile, the Marlim company, which obtained the right to operate the line to Cruzeiro do Sul in court, is still awaiting accreditation by Ageac. When questioned by the report from the ac24horas This Monday, the 1st, the body did not provide an explanation for the non-accreditation and limited itself to informing that it would not comment on the case at the moment.
