How much did Flamengo spend on signings?
O Flamengo released the financial statement for the first three months of 2024 and it contains the total amount spent on transfers for the start of this season. It is worth remembering that Nico de La Cruz, Léo Ortiz and Matias Viña arrived.
The total value, according to the document, is R$191,751 million, with R$102,074 million referring only to the Uruguayan De la Cruz, which is the most expensive. Rubro-Negro had to pay the contractual fine with River.
In the details contained in the document, Flamengo paid just over R$92 million between federative rights and gloves, more than R$9 million in intermediation costs to achieve the deal.
After many negotiations, which dragged on for more than a year, the club had to pay the termination fine of 16 million dollars in cash for River Plate to release De la Cruz, meaning it has nothing left to pay from the Uruguayan.
Values of Viña and Léo Ortiz
Viña’s signing reached a value slightly higher than R$49 million (just over R$43 million paid for rights and gloves and another more than R$5 million with intermediation). He arrived from Rome.
The defender Léo Ortiz cost R$40 million in total – just over R$37 million paid for rights and gloves and another R$2.6 million with intermediation. Flamengo spent just over R$204 million in this period to start the season.

Hiring in the first quarter (total cost detailed in the document released by the club this Wednesday)
- De la Cruz (R$ 102,074 million)
- Viña (R$ 49,381 million)
- Léo Ortiz (R$40,296 million)
In addition to expenses, the club also reported that it has approximately R) 180.6 million to receive from the sale of players. This amount is around R$149.3 million in the short term, that is, with payment soon.
Money to be received
Of this amount, there are values relating to Pablo Marí’s negotiations, Matheus França, Matheuzinho, João Gomes, Lucas Paquetá and Lázaro. The athletes, the vast majority of whom graduated from the club’s youth categories, are just a few.
The first quarter result was deficient in R$63 million, but the value is not a concern. The claim is that by the end of the year the money will come in from greater revenues such as sponsorships, advertising and licensing.
In the month of March, the Flamengo released the balance sheet for 2023 and signaled a collection of more than R$1 billion for the third consecutive year. Expectation of a record revenue for the end of this year.
The attacker Carlinhos was hired for the club, but only at the end of the Campeonato Carioca, so he is out of that amount. The tendency is for it to be in the next document released, referring to the months of April, May and June.
