DER-MG tool allows you to view highway conditions

With the new tool it is possible to see mapping and photos of the most critical locations on the road in real time

Users of state roads in Minas Gerais now have access to a new consultation tool on the conditions of the road network under the responsibility of the State.

The Minas Gerais Highway Department (DER-MG) adopted a new system for mapping and monitoring occurrences on highways that will make travel safer. Using a map, before starting the trip, the driver will be able to check the type of incident recorded at a certain point on the route and view photos from that location.

The total interruption points, the half-track locations, the stretches with variants, when that incident occurred and also the estimated completion date of the repair will be available on the map.

All of this will be available on the website and citizens will be able to check events in real time. In a next step, all map information will be integrated into mobility platforms.

The information contained on the map that the driver can consult is entered through an application by DER-MG servers, who operate in the 40 Regional Units, and travel daily on Minas Gerais highways throughout the state of Minas de Gerais.

In addition to the information available to citizens about the conditions of the highways, the data collected in the field helps the planning of investments in road infrastructure and brings more transparency to users.

The application also facilitates the mapping of the most frequent occurrences on a given stretch and points out priority maintenance and conservation measures for roads, which leads to more efficient use of public resources.

“Previously, this type of registration was carried out in a more systemic and much more laborious way. Today, the team that goes into the field can record incidents with their cell phone in hand, even if they are offline, and, within a few minutes, the information arrives in our management system and on the transparency panel”, explains Rodrigo Colares, responsible for Advisory DER-MG strategy.
