Débora Almeida, celebrates the reinclusion of Pernambuco in the Transnordestina project: “Great news for our State!”

Based on the perseverance of Governor Raquel Lyra (PSDB), together with the Federal Government, the state of Pernambuco will finally be reinserted into the Suape Branch project of the Transnordestina Railway. Leaving the drawing board, specifically in the section of the railway branch between Salgueiro in Sertão and the Port of Suape in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, the work, when completed, will serve to flow all local production, benefiting local producers, enabling regional integration, the development of northeast, thus strengthening the economy of an entire region.

It is a federal project that was designed a few decades ago, with the aim of integrating and regionalizing the development of the northeast. Upon taking office in 2023, the Raquel Lyra government realized that the administration that preceded it had removed Pernambuco from this important project, when the lights went out in 2022. With the governor’s constant trips to Brasília, however, the assertive strategy of reopening the dialogue with the Federal Government and a subsequent call from the federal and state parliamentary bench, Pernambuco deputies and senators and the Pernambuco productive sector, to join in this fight, worked: Last Friday (26), the notice was published bidding process for contracting the base project of the project.

For state deputy Débora Almeida (PSDB), this is yet another reason for celebration and joy for the people of Pernambuco and especially those who live in or have relations with the agreste and sertão regions: “It is another moment of victory for the State Government, through the political leadership of our governor Raquel Lyra, who decided to never give up on Pernambuco, but to insist on bringing benefits for the population to every corner of the state.” The tucana parliamentarian, known as “The voice of the Agreste”, but who also takes part in several actions in the central hinterland, added “Our agreste region will greatly benefit from the reinsertion of the state in the Transnordestina project, for the arrival of raw materials and flow of production in the clothing hub, reception of soybeans and corn, other local products from the poultry farming hub, dairy and beef cattle farming, among many other benefits, as with the railway we will also have cheaper freight, which is today one of the major bottlenecks for our producers. This makes us celebrate and believe more, reinforcing our confidence and hope in the changes that are already being perceived by the population!”
