Worker is thrown by a cow and rescued by helicopter in SC
A 34-year-old man was thrown into the air by a cow while carrying out livestock work in Araranguá, in the south of Santa Catarina, late on Monday afternoon (1st), according to the Civil Police.
The man was attended to by the corporation’s aeropolice service team, Saer/Sarasul, in support of the firefighters, who found a suspected spinal injury.
According to Saer/Sarasul, the victim was conscious at all times, but had intense pain in the cervical region and loss of mobility in his arms and legs, suspected of having fractured vertebrae.
The man was taken by Civil Police helicopter to São José hospital, in Criciúma, in the same region. He will undergo surgery and remains hospitalized requiring care.
Firefighters reported that the victim was “taken from the fury of the animal” by a co-worker and was already in a safe place, conscious and oriented, when rescuers arrived at the scene, in the Hercílio Luz neighborhood.
