Here It Happens – Secult promotes the 1st Regional Meeting of Public Libraries and Museums in the city of Penedo

With the aim of discussing strategies to strengthen the network of cultural facilities in the State, the Government of Alagoas, through the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy (Secult), will hold on April 12th, in Penedo, the 1st Meeting Regional Museum Public Libraries – Lower São Francisco Region.

The event, organized by the Alagoas System of Museums and the State System of Public Libraries of the State of Alagoas, will bring together leaders and managers of the main libraries and museums in the region’s municipalities to exchange ideas and strategies to expand the functioning of cultural facilities.

According to the coordinator of the Alagoan State Museum and Public Library Systems, Mira Dantas, this is an important moment for discussion, planning and alignment. “We hope that all managers of museums and public libraries in the State will be present so that together we can develop strategies that contribute to the appreciation and functioning of cultural facilities in Alagoas”, said the coordinator.

The event will be divided into two stages. The first will be technical visits, on Tuesday (9), to cultural facilities located in the municipalities of Feliz Deserto, Piaçabuçu, Penedo and Igreja Nova.

The second stage will be the meeting of managers, librarians, museologists and employees of libraries and museums in the lower São Francisco region, on Friday (12), at the municipal library of Penedo, located on Avenida Floriano Peixoto – Centro. The municipalities in the lower São Francisco region will be mobilized: Feliz Deserto, Igreja Nova, Olho D’água Grande, Penedo, Piaçabuçu, Porto Real do Colégio and São Brás.

During the event there will be workshops on organizing bibliographic and museum collections, chats about challenges and perspectives between municipalities, delivery of book kits and cultural presentations.

“This event represents an opportunity to strengthen the crucial role that libraries and museums play in preserving memory, promoting culture and local socioeconomic development. We are committed to supporting initiatives that expand access to culture and promote community integration, and This meeting is a significant step in that direction”, said the Secretary of State for Culture and Creative Economy, Mellina Freitas.
