The renovation was carried out by students from the RenovaDF program and included an investment of R$300,000 in parliamentary amendments from district deputy Hermeto. There, around 1,300 people are served monthly.

“We want to work for the community and deliver more and more. These works are being done because the population deserves it”

“It is a great joy, with many deliveries this Friday morning. We have just launched the Hospital Ortopédico do Guará and now we are here in Riacho Fundo, a very important administrative region for the Federal District. We want to do more and more for this region”, stated Ibaneis Rocha.

The governor took the opportunity to list other works in the region, such as the Riacho Fundo Viaduct, currently underway, and the replacement of the pavement with concrete on the section of the EPNB that connects Candangolândia to Samambaia. “We want to work for the community and deliver more and more. These works are being done because the population deserves it”, he defended.

“It is important for the government to look at sport, because it keeps children off the path of drugs. I just have to say thank you”

For the administrator of Riacho Fundo, Fernando Siqueira, the synthetic field will positively change the life of the community. “This delivery brings about a social transformation, we will welcome the community here more”, celebrates the administrator.

Student Victor Emanuel Portela, 12 years old, plays football school on the site’s synthetic lawn. He said the space was much better. “In the past, when I came here it was just rubber. Everything was destroyed. Now the field is good, it’s very tidy”, he defined.

The boy’s mother, student Tatiane Portela, 41, celebrated the renovation. “The structure was much better, because it was chaos. It is important for the government to look at sport, because it keeps children away from drugs. I just have to say thank you,” she said.

Resident of Riacho Fundo, student and athlete Julia Marques Ribeiro, 16 years old, uses the sports complex after school to train volleyball. For her, the renovation improves the environment. “Before, it was almost abandoned here, but they came to renovate the bathroom, the synthetic material, the gate and the paint, it looked good. This will definitely improve my performance and make me want to train more.”

The DF Secretary of Sport and Leisure, Renato Junqueira, reinforced the importance of the reform to guarantee quality of life for the population. “It is important because the sports space places the community in a pleasant environment of joy and happiness”, he commented. “All this new stuff here represents dignity, quality of life, health and opportunities. Who knows, we might be able to reveal a new talent here,” he added.

Program that changes lives

The renovation involved the participation of 55 RenovaDF students. The program from the Secretariat of Economic Development, Labor and Income (Sedet) recovers public equipment in the city while professionally training those enrolled. Participants receive a stipend worth one minimum wage, as well as snacks and transportation.

Housewife Valesca Martins da Silva, 25 years old, resident of Recanto das Emas, is one of the students who participated in the renovation of the sports complex. She says the program changed her life. “I didn’t know anything. Now I know how to paint and I want a job opportunity. If it weren’t for RenovaDF, I would be at home. The learning is very good,” she said.

The lack of professional perspective was also a reality for housewife Rute Guimarães, 30 years old. Until she discovered the program, her routine was dedicated exclusively to her three children. When I discovered RenovaDF based on a recommendation from a friend, everyday life gained more colors and stories to share with the children.

“I learned how to paint and sew fences and I hope to get a job. The aid is helping a lot”, he highlighted, when commenting on the financial aid paid to RenovaDF participants who take care of public equipment in cities in the DF.

Since the beginning of the program, more than 20 synthetic fields have been recovered in 16 administrative regions. Renovations are underway in the Metropolitana fields, in Núcleo Bandeirante, and in QNM 10, in Ceilândia.
