Bleeding from the Pataxó Dam, in Ipanguaçu, RN

Rio Grande do Norte had an Easter weekend with rain throughout Rio Grande do Norte, exceeding accumulations of 100 millimeters of water in different cities and regions. The heavy rains also helped recharge the state’s reservoirs. At least three overflowed over the weekend.

The highest volumes of rain recorded by the Monitoring System of the Agricultural Research Company of Rio Grande do Norte (Emparn), from the morning of Friday (29) until the same time this Monday (1) occurred in Luís Gomes, in West region (178.4 mm); Parnamirim, in the East of Rio Grande do Norte (150 mm); and in São Pedro, in Agreste (125mm).

In Luís Gomes and Severiano Melo, both in Oeste Potiguar, it rained, only between Sunday (31) and this Monday (1) 99.1mm and 80.8mm, respectively.

“The recent rains were caused by the action of the Convergence Zone and the warming that is still happening over the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, which are releasing a lot of moisture and this moisture is entering the Convergence Zone and with this there is the formation of clouds with rain ”, stated the head of Emparn’s Meteorology unit, Gilmar Bristot.

For the first week of April, the forecast is for partly cloudy skies with rain in all regions of the state. “The model analyzes point to continued rain, mainly concentrated between the 2nd and 6th of April in all regions here in the state”, explained the head of the Meteorology unit.
