Data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) for the month of February were released by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. Tocantins showed balance in job creation, with frequent positive results.

In February, 12,358 were hired and 10,085 fired, resulting in a balance of 2,273 new jobs. The Services sector was the one that employed the most, responsible for the opening of 764 new jobs, followed by the Commerce sector, with 635, and Agriculture, with 385.

The capital Palmas had the largest balance of the period, with 661 new vacancies with a formal contract. Following the five municipalities with the highest balance are Araguaína (383), Porto Nacional (220), Formoso do Araguaia (122) and Lagoa da Confusao (114).

In the state, the majority of new jobs were occupied by men (+1,523). People with complete secondary education were the main beneficiaries (+1,374) with vacancies in Tocantins. Young people between 18 and 24 years old are also the group with the highest vacancy balance: +1,191.

The economic policy of the Government of Tocantins has already had an impact on the lives of people from Tocantins, such as the data on the reduction in unemployment. For Secretary Carlos Humberto Lima, the work carried out by Governor Wanderlei Barbosa and the Secretariat of Industry, Commerce and Services (Sics) has been successful for investing in the State’s potential.

“Tocantins is a privileged state, both because of its location and its economic potential. Sics, under the governor’s orders, has been working on the economic revitalization of the state, with investment and strengthening where necessary”, concluded the portfolio holder.
