Seven-year-old child is second victim of dengue in Dourados in 2024

A seven-year-old boy is the second victim of dengue in Dourados this year. According to the State Department of Health, without comorbidities, he had the first symptoms of the disease on January 19th and died on the 29th of that same month, but the cause was only confirmed on March 21st.

Now, Mato Grosso do Sul has lost six lives to the disease since the beginning of 2024. The first was a one-month-old baby in Maracaju. With no reported comorbidities, she began to have dengue symptoms on January 31st and died on February 5th.

Subsequently, an 81-year-old man died in Chapadão do Sul. With High Blood Pressure and Diabetes, he began to have symptoms of dengue on January 19th and died on February 7th.

In Coronel Sapucaia, the victim of dengue was a 73-year-old woman, whose first symptoms appeared on February 17th and her death occurred on the 20th of that same month. She had high blood pressure, diabetes and autoimmune disease.

In Dourados, dengue killed a 33-year-old man, with no reported comorbidities. The onset of symptoms dates back to March 3rd and death on the 5th of that same month.

Then, dengue fever caused the death of a baby in the municipality of Laguna Carapã. The victim, a boy just one year old, had his first symptoms on March 6th and died on the 12th. The cause was confirmed on the 18th of the same month. There were no comorbidities reported.

Mato Grosso do Sul has 11,048 probable cases and 3,763 diagnoses of dengue this year, with six confirmed deaths out of 11 under investigation.
