The irrigated rice harvest is highlighted in Rio Grande do Sul, with updated figures released by the Rio Grandense Rice Institute (IRGA). The data reveals significant progress in the current harvest, with detailed information on harvest progress by region. Of the 900,203 hectares allocated to rice cultivation, 325,875 hectares have been harvested to date, which represents 36.2% of the total area.

This year, the harvest shows a notable distribution in relation to the plants’ growth phases: 0.7% are in the vegetative stage, 14% are in the reproductive phase and 48% are in the maturation phase. Comparatively, in the last harvest, 67% of the total area in RS had already been harvested, with a minimum loss of 0.6%. Irrigated rice producing regions show a variation in the pace of harvesting. The Western Frontier leads with 51.37% of the area already harvested, while the Central region records the slowest progress, with 17.99%.

The compiled data was tabulated by IRGA’s Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Division, based on information provided by teams from the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Centers (Nates), which work in close collaboration with producers in Rio Grande do Sul to ensure the success of the harvest. .

Western Border: 135,590 hectares harvested (51.37%) of 263,903 hectares sown
Outer Coastal Plain: 47,001 hectares harvested (47%) of 100,003 hectares sown
Inner Coastal Plain: 45,192 hectares harvested (34%) of 132,918 hectares sown
South Zone: 43,904 hectares harvested (28.45%) of 154,318 hectares sown
Campaign: 31,925 hectares harvested (24.37%) of 130,954 hectares sown
Central: 21,259 hectares harvested (17.99%) of 118,107 hectares sown
