It is with great pride and admiration that Celeste announces an event with none other than Alex Malheiros, from Azymuth!
As one of Brazil’s most influential bassists and founding member of Azymuth, Alex has pioneered the unique fusion of space-funk, samba and jazz since the early seventies. On solo tour, Malheiros continues to delight audiences with his sophisticated musicianship and constant innovation.
The true consecration came with the formation of the legendary trio Azymuth in 1973. Together with Ivan Conti (drums) and José Roberto Bertrami (keyboards), Malheiros co-founded one of the most innovative and influential bands in Brazilian music. Azymuth has conquered the global stage with their distinctive sound, a unique fusion of jazz, funk, samba and electronic music. As a member of Azymuth, Malheiros actively participated in the creation of more than 30 albums, leaving his unmistakable mark on each track.
In addition to his seminal contribution to Azymuth, Alex Malheiros has enjoyed a successful solo career. Albums such as “Atlantic Forest”, “Zenith”, “The Wave” and “Tempos Futuros” reveal the depth of his musicality and the ability to transcend stylistic boundaries.
In this new presentation format that debuts in the “Celeste Social Clube” project, Malheiros makes a digital ‘DJ set’ sharing part of the collection of his recordings with various artists, since the 70s, in addition to Azymuth. He won’t play the instrument this time. Who accompanies him helping with the Celeste’s sound system is the resident DJ Dekin.
