At least four cases of violence against women were recorded in Mato Grosso in less than 24 hours between Saturday (30) and Sunday (31). These are cases in which women suffered physical and psychological violence
On Saturday (15), neighbors of a woman called the police after the victim asked for help in Cuiabá. The suspect and the victim drank alcohol and had a disagreement, which led the suspect to punch the victim in the mouth and slap one of the ears, in addition to damaging her cell phone.
To the teams, the victim said that the relationship was already quite strained but that due to the birth of her daughter, she was trying to put up with the marriage and that she tried to end it a few times, but the suspect always threatened to take his daughter to Venezuela, and that he would kill her if she reported him to the police. The suspect was arrested.
In the early hours of Sunday (31), a 41-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence and bodily injury, in Cuiabá. After an argument, the suspect allegedly threw the victim to the ground and hit his head against the ground.
To the teams, one of the witnesses stated that he was passing through the avenue when he came across the victim being attacked inside a car and screaming for help. Other people also saw the attacks and together they forced the suspect to stop the car on the roadside. The man tried to escape, but was detained by members of the public.
In the early hours of Sunday (31), a 32-year-old woman was surprised by her ex-partner inside her home, in Água Boa, 436 km from Cuiabá. The suspect, aged 40, saw a message from the victim’s ex-husband on her cell phone and attacked her with punches. The suspect fled.
Also on Sunday (31), a 25-year-old woman requested a protective measure against a 23-year-old suspect, after he attacked her in a hotel in Confresa, 1,160 km from Cuiabá. The suspect surrendered to the police and told the teams that he and the victim were at a party and that after an argument, he began attacking her with punches, pushes and swearing.
Reports of violence against women can be made by phone 180, which is the Women’s Service Center. The service operates 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. The Military Police can be contacted via 190 when the crime is taking place.
In addition, complaints can also be registered in person at police stations in Mato Grosso or at any police station in the municipality where the victim resides.
In Cuiabá, it is possible to make a report through the Assistance Unit for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence, located at Av. Dante Martins de Oliveira, s/n, Bairro Planalto, attached to the building of the 2nd Police Station of the Capital.
Still in the capital, the Specialized Police Station for the Defense of Women (DEDM), operates at Rua Joaquim Murtinho, nº 789, Centro-Sul.
In Várzea Grande, the Specialized Police Station for the Defense of Women, Children and the Elderly operates at Rua Almirante Barroso, 298, Centro Sul, close to the André Maggi Terminal.
