The new operation of the Transbrasil BRT corridor, with stops at all stations and a segregation chute, as well as the Magarça Terminal, in Guaratiba, will operate on its first business day this Monday (1st).

Transbrasil is scheduled to operate from 10am to 3pm every day of the week, with an average travel time estimated at 40 minutes. Another novelty is the implementation of the new integrated control system on Avenida Brasil, which will reduce congestion on the road and the number of accidents.

The Transbrasil express corridor is 26 kilometers long, has 17 stations, crosses 18 neighborhoods and is expected to transport 250,000 people per day by 2030. This is the fourth BRT corridor implemented in the city, expanding the high-capacity transport system, which already operates with the Transoeste, Transcarioca and Transolímpica corridors.

Segregated BRT rail on Avenida Brasil

Another new feature on Avenida Brasil is the delimitation of the left lane of the selective road, exclusively for BRTs, using segregators. The lane on the right of the selective road can be used by buses, service vehicles and taxis.

This rule applies to every day of the week. To ensure safety when overtaking express BRTs near stations, the selective lane will be segregated with studs. On single-lane stretches, only buses and BRTs will be allowed.

Vehicles traveling in the exclusive lane or lane will be fined, except in cases of force majeure and with authorization from the public authorities. According to Art. 184 of the CTB (Brazilian Traffic Code), they will be committing a very serious infraction, with a fine of R$ 293.47.
