There is a very interesting story when Leonardo Da Vinci was painting the painting “The Last Supper”.
He himself says that shortly before he started painting this painting he had a very fierce fight with another painter, and he was so upset with that colleague that he decided that when he painted the image of the Last Supper he would paint his colleague’s face on the face of Judas. , to say he was a traitor. And so he did.
However, the story goes that when he got to the part where he had to paint Jesus he couldn’t do it, it went wrong, until he realized that he was blocked in his work because of the feeling he was harboring against his colleague. So, he went back and erased his colleague’s face from Judas’s face and remade it with another face.
This fact illustrates the situation of many people who cannot move forward in life because of a hurt they hold in their hearts. Just look at what the Lord Jesus said in the Sacred Text about forgiveness:
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15
See that there is a connection between the forgiveness we give to people who hurt us and the forgiveness we receive from God. One thing is linked to another, they are inseparable.
Now, imagine you standing before God needing forgiveness and God saying: “I’m sorry, but I can’t forgive you, because my Son taught that you have to forgive men their trespasses so that you can be forgiven, and you didn’t forgive . So I can’t forgive you either.”
So, forgiveness is a kind of credit that I give myself. When I forgive someone, my forgiveness is deposited in my account in heaven. When I need forgiveness, I have forgiveness to draw on. How will you stand before God if He does not grant you forgiveness due to lack of balance in your account?
Maybe your life is stuck and you don’t know how much the evil of hurt, resentment, disappointment, aversion, bad thoughts, bad eyes against other people blocks your life.
And I know that many Christians who know that it is wrong to hold on to hurt feelings, don’t allow themselves to think and say that they are hurt, because they know that if they say so, they will be admitting that they are in sin. So, they use other names to justify it. It is the marketing of hurt, that is, hurt selling itself as something acceptable.
I ask you: Is it worth it?
What is better: staying in your path and guaranteeing your eternal perdition or granting the forgiveness that will do you so much good and add to your heavenly account when you need it?
Think about it.
